We are Berean Baptist Church in Parsons, Kansas

About us.

We are a fundamental independent Baptist Church that started in May of 2003 through a burden placed upon the heart and spirit of Pastor Darren Dusher by the Lord of Glory. We held our 1st service in our dining room in September 2003 and to our garage by November of that same year. By September 2004, God had led us to a storefront building on South 27th street that we were privileged to meet in until May 2005 when we bought our 1st building on West Main Street.

God allowed us to see great growth at this location with 2 remodeling projects and building an addition to accommodate the growing church attendance. In August 2010, the Lord worked yet another tremendous blessing. We sold our West Main building and meet in a local elementary school until November 2010 when we purchased our current location on Wilson Avenue from a church group who was moving to another location.

Through the past 17 years, God has brought so many people through our doors. We have seen many saved and baptized. He has allowed us the joy of sending 2 church planters out from us. The Jeremiah Baird Family went to Silverdale Washington to plant the Central Baptist Church. A few months later, we were able to send out the Kelly Noakes Family to Baxter Springs, Kansas to plant the Berean Baptist Church. We are honored to support 20 home and foreign missionary projects.

About the leaders

Meet our staff

  • Bro. Darren Dusher is pastor of The Berean Baptist Church of Parsons, Kansas which he and his wife Bethany were called to plant in 2003. The Dushers will be married for 22 years this coming May 2020. They have 3 children David, Bailee, and Jonathan all currently serving with them in Parsons.

At age 18, Bro. Dusher felt the Lord leading him into the ministry in some capacity. Graduating from Labette County High School, he went to Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas, and then completed his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Pittsburg State University in 1991. From there, the Lord led him to Baptist Bible College Graduate School of Theology in Springfield, Missouri where he received a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling in 1994.

After graduation in Springfield, Bro. Dusher served for over 4 years as Associate Pastor to Bro. Melvin Williams at the Berean Baptist Church of Strafford, Missouri. Following the Dushers wedding in 1998, they moved to Council Grove, Kansas to become pastor of the Berean Baptist Church spanning from January 1999 to May 2003. From there, they were called to plant the church in Parsons being sent out of the church in Strafford. They continue to serve the Lord together with their family in Parsons.

In 2014, the church was blessed to send the Jeremiah Baird family to Silverdale Washington to plant the Central Baptist Church which signed their charter in September 2019. In the Spring of 2015, they were also blessed to be able to ordain Bro. Kelly Noakes and send him and his family to plant the Berean Baptist Church of Baxter Springs, Kansas.

  • I was and raised in Oswego, Kansas. I graduated from Labette County High School and then married my high school sweetheart, Stephanie Baird. We have two beautiful girls, a great son-in-law, two terrific grandsons, and one more on the way.

My mother took us, kids, to a small Holiness Church in Oswego and I saved as a boy. Prior to joining Berean Baptist, my wife and I and our family attended Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons where I served as a Sunday School teacher, song leader, and treasurer. We started attending Berean Baptist in March 2008 and joined the church through baptism in April of that year.

Through the preaching and teaching of Pastor Dusher and others from special services, I surrendered to full-time service. In February of 2011, I surrendered to preach.

It has been a blessing and privilege to serve here at Berean Baptist Church.

  • I had the privilege to grow up in a Christian and ministry focused home. At the age of 12, I accepted Jesus as my Saviour. The same year I surrendered to preach and to fully serve my Lord. The Lord opened the door for me to attend Heartland Baptist Bible College in the Fall of 2007 and graduate in 2011. My time at HBBC and Southwest Baptist Church allowed me to see many opportunities and blessings. One of which was meeting my wife, Bethany. We were married in 2011. We have been allowed to serve bi-vocationally at Berean Baptist Church in Parsons since January 2012. Since then, the Lord has blessed us with 3 children, and the opportunity to minister to the youth, as well as in many other capacities. Our prayer is to be found faithful in all God gives us to do.

  • Hi, my name is Ethan Noakes and I am 25 years old. My wife Kayt and I have a 2-year-old son named Gabe. I teach Junior Church here at Berean Baptist Church. I have been a member of this church since my early teens and have been teaching Junior Church for the past six years. I was saved at the age of 7 at Temple Baptist Church in Erie, Kansas. During my childhood years, my dad took seminary classes and became a pastor. A few years ago, he and my mom planted a church called Berean Baptist Church of Baxter Springs, Kansas. Ministry has always been important to my family and I enjoy getting to share the Word of God with the children of Junior Church every week.
